CNC Turning

Microns (P.E.) Limited offers comprehensive CNC turning capabilities, utilising both 2-axis and 3-axis CNC turning, as well as advanced driven tooling. These capabilities enable the precise and efficient production of cylindrical components for a variety of industries.
This is a stainless Steel component. Machined complete using our 3 axis lathe. Which is ideal, as the shaft is off centre to the base. Allowing us to complete this in 2 operations.

2-axis CNC Turning

Microns (P.E.) Limited's 2-axis CNC turning provides precise control over two axes (x and z), allowing for the accurate machining of simple cylindrical parts, such as shafts, bushings, and other rotational components. This method is ideal for producing parts with high surface finishes, concentricity, and tolerances. With the ability to quickly and efficiently handle operations like facing, drilling, threading, and boring, 2-axis turning is well-suited for high-volume production runs of parts that require minimal complexity.

3-axis CNC Turning

For more complex geometrics, Microns (P.E.) Limited offers 3-axis CNC turning, which adds an additional axis of movement (typically the y-axis). This capability allows for the machining of more intricate features, including off-centre holes, grooves, and profiles. With 3-axis turning, the company can handle more complex components in a single setup, reducing cycle times and improving accuracy. This level of precision makes it ideal for parts that require detailed contours or intricate dimensional requirements.
This is an aluminium component – machined complete in our CNC turning section. We make various sizes of these that then all fit together like a Russian doll. These are then sent off for a Hard Anodised Finish.

Driven Tooling

Driven tooling (also known as live tooling) enhances the CNC turning process by enabling additional milling, drilling, or tapping operations to be performed without removing the part from the lathe. With driven tooling, Microns (P.E.) Limited can perform tasks such as cross-drilling, slotting, and creating complex features on the turned part while still on the lathe. This capability streamlines the production process, reduces handling times, and ensures higher accuracy by eliminating the need for multiple setups.
With these combined capabilities, Microns (P.E.) Limited can deliver high-quality, complex turned parts with precision and efficiency. Whether the requirement is for simple cylindrical components or intricate parts with multiple features, the company's state-of-the-art CNC turning solutions ensure optimal performance and consistent results.
